Roman Amphitheatre
Built around the middle of the first century AD, the Amphitheatre is the only Roman monument in Toulouse that can still be seen in its entirety.
It was built during the same time as the other buildings of the settlement. It was the scene of gladiatorial combats until the very end of the IVth century. The Musee reveals some of the archaeology and history of the site.

The Capitole
Now the home of the Town Hall and the Theatre National du Capitole, this building is remarkable for its façade with its eight pink marble columns.
The best international conductors and artists perform in this concert hall. The programme includes opera and operetta, international singing competitions, recitals and ballet. The famous Capitole Orchestra, conducted by Michel Plasson, plays to a full house.

L'Ensemble conventuel des Jacobins
This outstanding building built during the XIIIth and XIVth centuries, is a magnificent example of monastic architecture. Made up of brick, it is a true gem of Languedoc Gothic art, and features an incomparable palm-tree vault with 22 ribs supporting the roof of the polygonal choir. The cloister with its succession of gracious arches, and the refectory in which exhibitions are mounted round, Make a visit to this beautiful complex of ldings.

La Cathédrale Saint-Etienne
Built over five centuries back, the cathedral has a somewhat bewildering effect, as the ideas about architecture then were considerably different. In addition, it houses a number of interesting features, such as its stained glass, paintings, the large rose window, and its 17 chapels. Nevertheless, the unusual architecture of the building manages to mesmerize visitor.

La Basilica of Saint-Sernin
Erected in the second half of the XIth century, Western world houses the sepulcher of Saint-Saturnin, martyred in the year 250. The place used to be an important stopping place for the pilgrims to Compostella.
The crypt of the basilica contains a host of relics. Visitors come to admire the XIXth century chalices and ciboria, as well as the main altar and capitals and tympanums dating from the XIth and XIIth centuries.
