Liverpool - Travel Information
Getting around (and to) Liverpool |
 |
The city is connected well by various mode of transportation
like bus service, train and metro services.
By Car
Car hire is relatively cheap with a wide array of Car hire companies
providing services all around the city. The city is well connected
to the rest of the country by motorways and the airport is well
signposted on all major approach roads. The airport has both short
and long-term car parks with a combination of over 4000 spaces.
Book your car hire in advance from the best car hire companies.
You can book at the airport terminal or even at the taxi stand.
By Bus
Liverpool is well served by a number of bus companies, operating
routes all over the city. Two of the principal bus operators are
Arriva North West, and CMT Buses.
Liverpool has two major bus stations - Paradise Street and Queen
Square. Other main bus stops can be found at Victoria Street, ashu/dm-new/Sir
Thomas Street, London Road and Renshaw Street.
By Train
The city has one of the most frequent commuter services outside
London. The Northern Line connects Liverpool with Ormskirk, Kirkby,
Southport and Hunts Cross, while the Wirral line links Liverpool
with West Kirby, Ellesmere Port, New Brighton and Chester.
The local service operates in and out of Liverpool city center at
four stations: Liverpool Central, Moorfields, James Street, and
Lime Street, which is the city's main train station, serving local
and national routes.
By Taxi
There are plenty of Hackney Cabs (or Black Cabs) operating in Liverpool,
especially in the city center. Either you can hail a passing Hackney
cab or you can go to one of the city center’s taxi ranks.
The Hackney Cab ranks are located at Lime Street Station, James
Street Station, Adelphi Hotel, White chapel, Sir Thomas Street and
Chinatown
Private Hire taxis
The city has a wide array of private hire taxi firms that operate
across the city. Unlike Hackney cabs, you cannot hail a passing
taxi, instead you need to pick one from the taxi
Rank. You can book a private hire taxi by visiting the company's
premises or by telephone.
