Travel to the marvelous Cork City, with Car Hire
services none like before, you'll find great deals, offers and
special discounts from all the Car Hire Cork operators running at
the Cork Airport.
Cork City has lovely landscape
across the island, sandy beaches, fresh air and warm residents.
To make your holiday unforgettable, plan some things in advance
of your visit as last minute rush can spoil your fun trip.
When to Go
It is suggestable that you don’t plan a visit to Cork during
July to august as it is most likely to be warm and sunny. July and
August are the busiest months with Irish, British, and Continental
tourists heading for the area in large numbers.
Visiting in high season means the bars and restaurants of the area
will be lively but also crowded and little expensive.
The best time to visit is in the "shoulder seasons" --
May through June and September through October, when the weather
will still be mild; most accommodations and attractions will be
open, and crowds can be avoided. It may be wet, but it seldom gets
cold in this part of the world
Getting Here
Cork situated between the two channels pf River Lee, is well connected
by air, sea and road.
Traveling by car is an ideal choice esp with a wide range of Car
Hire companies serving the city. Roads are small, narrow and twisty
thus it is not advisable to exceed 64 kph (40 mph).
If you are driven around, drivers don't have to be tipped, but if
you want to, 10% is fine.
Staying Here
Cork City offers an unbeatable range of accommodation and there
are places to suit every size of wallet. Fancy hotels and restaurants
usually add a 10% or 12% service charge and no additional tip is
required. Simpler places usually do not add service; if you decide
to tip, just round up the bill or add at most 10%. Tipping in bars
is not expected.
Money Exchange/Transfers
Exchange money at banks, bureaux de change offices, some hotels
and some post offices. It's also often possible to withdraw money
from cash machines (ATMs).
Although ATM transaction fees may be higher abroad than at home,
ATM rates are excellent because they are based on wholesale rates
offered only by major banks. To avoid lines at airport exchange
booths, get a bit of local currency before you leave home.
Currency
Dollars and British pounds are accepted only in large hotels and
shops geared to tourists. Elsewhere you will be expected to use
Irish currency.
