Getting to the Airport
Traveling to Inverness, and getting around the rest of the
Highlands and Islands of Scotland, could not be easier then
this with various transportation systems.
By car
Traveling to and around the city has becoming quite easy with
a vast number of transportation available. Some of the award-winning
car-hire companies run from the airport terminal providing
quality service at affordable prices.
The A9 south links Inverness with Edinburgh, Scotland's capital,
and the largest city, Glasgow.
Furthermore, there are regular buses that link Inverness
with other Highland communities and express coaches run to
the main cities of Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom.
By Air
Inverness Airport, just 10 miles from the city center, handles
scheduled daily flights to and from airports throughout the
Highlands and Islands, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester and
Birmingham, and six daily flights to the major London airports
of Gatwick, Heathrow, and Luton.
By Rail
Inverness is connected to every point of the compass with
a good rail link - north to the Caithness towns of Thurso
and Wick, east to Nairn and Aberdeen, south via Aviemore to
Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, and west on the famous scenic
route to Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye. Direct sleeper
services to London and daily through trains provide a fast
